2023:

Sam has been a really valuable addition to the MLA lifecycle teams since he joined as a TGL. Beyond that role he has acted as central VE approver on all our 24MY PACNs (there have been many!) and has been very diligent and quick to respond to requests to review changes. He is very thorough in his approach and has a clear customer focus in what he does to get the best outcome - this shows Customer Love and Impact behaviours.

He always reports back honestly on issues and I trust his opinions and experience. He has shared a lot of learning with us in terms of approvals and process while reviewing change content for 24MY and I would ask that he keeps sharing and working to build knowledge in the team around him so that we ensure these processes work robustly and less experienced members of the team learn best practice.

To support MLA Lifecycle, there were some items / issues remaining from launch of 22/23MY, Sam was very keen to address for the customer.

Sam scheduled meetings with relevant stakeholders to ensure the issue could be described by the technical experts and ensure that the customer experience is understood by all. This is a clear demonstration of the creators code: Integrity

I believe that Sam honestly put the customer at the centre and never wanted to detract from that and reduce the customer experience. The focus of Sam was efficient and early delivery of quality, I commend him for the approach he took and believe in an honest, open and united JLR the vehicles can truly shine.

Sam had been my initial guidance and buddy as I joined the organisation. He was the one to give me confidence to hop up into the ITP and lead the forum. Some processes Sam had setup in the ITP has helped a lot to streamline the process and save a lot of time. IWith my limited time spent with Sam, he had taught me some great techniques and provided with some helpful insight to carry my daily cadence.

He had always been a chat away and promptly helped me with any query and tasks.

Through various interactions with Sam this year, he's once again showed himself to be a great team player and conscientious when it comes to decision making.

In his dealings with 25MY, he's gone above and beyond in investigating details of some of the projects from IGNITE to make sure his programme is compatible and technically feasible. He's shown good initiative in making sure that no unexpected changes would adversely affect 25MY MLA. One thing I'd point out here is that one just a few occasions, his scrutiny on IGNITE items in certain forums prevented them from progressing as quickly as the might otherwise have done, especially since the attribute affects would have been only positive for 25MY. Obviously he (rightly) wanted to make sure that all the details were fully understood before agreeing to a change and I certainly wouldn't want to discourage this commendable quality - just something to bear in mind or reflect on in the future depending on situation and nature of decisions to be made ("What level of detail is required to make a justified and timely decision").

In terms of team spirit, he's come onboard the MLA team and has developed great relationships with all around him (as is true to form). I find Sam to be a very approachable and personable colleague and friend which makes working with him a pleasure. What's more is that his increasing technical knowledge and his high level strategic thinking shows his genuine desire to affect the best possible changes for the company. I hope 25MY and further activities in 2023 have/will give him a chance to deploy these brilliant characteristics!

Given my one criticism above might be regarded as point-of-view dependent, its clear that Sam performs personally and professionally well above the mark. Be great to do some projects properly together again in the future!

Sam, While we have only crossed paths recently again you have been willing to help those who are willing to ask and point out areas that need correcting. Having built a working relationship previously I know your intentions come from the correct place; however with others I work for your drive can get their backs up. I would suggest to those that do not know you explaining why you want them to get another approval may be a good action to take, or go for a softer spoken approach. For example I am aware MLA have a weight issue and driving this approval doesn't only affect Ignite but projects in the future - where as others do not see this and therefore see it as someone making their life 'harder'.

For myself I see you as an approachable team mate who will help when asked when time allows - and your view of the bigger picture is admirable, some people will not like your approach but learning to adapt this will be a great tool.

His work on modifying / creating the new improved 23MY ITP tracker (as well as a whole host of metric inducing systems) is outstanding, as someone that uses this document daily it is much more user friendly than the previous iterations.

Product knowledge is also very good considering the wide variety of models that are involved in the legacy space, he has taught me things I did not know and for that I thank him.
